ANEMONE REEF :

Anemone Reef is located about 600 metres north of Shark Point Marine Sanctuary. The Thai name this beautiful site ‘Hin Jom’ that means ‘submerged rock’. This huge limestone pinnacle rises 30 metres up from the seafloor with the tip around 5 metres beneath the surface. It is now 3 metres deeper than it was before the King Cruiser ferry struck it and sheared off the very top of the rock. In shallower areas, this submerged reef is fully covered in extensive fields of gorgeous blue and green sea anemones, hence its name. The soft coral clings to every conceivable surface and gently sway in the current creating the illusion that the giant rock is alive. As expected there are plenty of colourful anemone fish and clownfish living and hiding among the anemones that make great photo opportunities. The site is an absolute treasure trove of macro life.

MARINE LIFE

Anemonefish and clownfish are common, as are big schools of snapper that cloud the pinnacle. Schools of yellowtail barracuda are also often seen circling the rock, together with groupers, oriental sweetlips, juvenile harlequin sweetlips, scorpionfish and soldierfish that flit among corals and crevices. Leopard Sharks, possible “escapees” from the famous dive sites nearby, may also swim by from time to time.

Small critters such as tiger-tail seahorse are also found here on occasion. At the shallow areas near the mooring line, ornate ghost pipefish, nudibranchs and even anglerfish have been seen here.

What to Expect on your Dive with us at Anemone Reef

Sirolodive is aimed at providing you with the best experience of scuba diving in Phuket. We are able to tailor all requirements to fit and suit you exactly how you would require them to be.

Our team would pick you up from your hotel at 7:15am and drop you at our Boat at Chalong Pier. We would also be dropping you off at your hotel once we have returned back from your diving trip.

You can enjoy a very good breakfast buffet on board and we serve you with snacks and drinks throughout. Lunch buffet is also served with all dietary requests taken into account. If you wish to order a Vegetarian meal please contact Sirolodive’s staff when you board.

You will be briefed by your instructor regarding the use of all diving equipments, dive sites, what you can expect from each dive location and all safety related matters.

What’s not included:

  • Underwater photos and video may be possible from dive staff on the boat as an optional extra, usually 1,000 THB per day
  • Pickup/Dropoff additional charges will apply for locations from Surin onwards to Maikhao beach or the North of Phuket
